Bobby Convey has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season by Reading

The American winger has had a niggling problem in his knee since returning to action and the club have decided it best that he doesn`t feature until 2007/08.

Convey was pivotal in the club`s championship 2005/06 winning season but since succumbing to injury in Reading`s away defeat to Pompey in October has been injured and ousted from the side.

Since returning to fitness Convey has not been able to reclaim his place in the Reading side thanks to some top performances from his replacement, Stephen Hunt.

The Reading winger will now sit out the rest of the season amidst fears that his knee is not fully healed:

Steve Coppell confirmed that: ‘We have been aware since his last surgery that his knee is flawed, given our circumstances he will have further surgery to make sure he is 100 per cent by next season.”

‘It will be a slightly different operation to the one before. The best way if putting it is ‘mechanical’ and it is not career-threatening.

‘It is just a niggle within the knee but the last thing we want to do is push (him).

‘I have no doubt that he could have played on to the end of the season but we don’t want him coming back in pre-season and him saying `it still doesn’t feel right’.

‘Now we have the opportunity to do something about it and hopefully correct it.”

All the best Bob! We hope to see you back in action very soon?
