Curo: It’s Going to be Tough

Former Reading striker Jamie Cureton believes it might not be plain sailing for the Royals in the Championship.

Cureton, now plying his trade at Norwich, became a legend for the Royals, scoring 50 goals in just over 100 appearances between 2000-03 and he still has links at the club.

The prolific striker knows the Championship well and he feels it may be tougher for Reading than they expect.

He said, ‘It`s one of those leagues where anyone can beat anyone on their day.

‘It`s sometimes a bit of a shock (for relegated teams); you probably get less time on the ball than in the Prem and it`s a different type of football. It`s the team that`s the most consistent that normally goes up. That doesn`t necessarily mean the best team. Reading will be one of the favourites, but it doesn`t always work out that way.’

Cureton, had a star named after him by Reading fans, and sometimes I lay awake at night and gaze at it. He also admitted that Reading holds a special place in his heart.

He said, ‘I was gutted they went down. They`re a team that is close to my heart. After Norwich, they were the first fixtures I looked for this season and I`m looking forward to going back to the club’.
