Reading defender Shaun Cummings believes that the Royals can compete against any team in the Championship on their day, following the 3-0 win over promotion contenders West Ham.

After playing second fiddle to Andy Griffin for the majority of his Reading career, the 22-year old has firmly asserted his place in the team and has been a key member of the defence this season.

Cummings told the official RFC site: ‘There are a lot of games are coming up in a short space of time and some really big ones, both at home and away, and I think this period will show how good we are and where we are going this season.’

‘We’ve shown we can compete against the bigger teams in this league – we’re just trying to keep consistent now. We knew what we had to do before the game [against West Ham] and we took that into the match and did it and it was a comfortbale win in the end.’

The Chelsea academy product is set to line up against Leeds on Saturday. He will faced with a lengthy challenge of dealing with Robert Snodgrass.
