Reading defender Shaun Cummings has said he is aiming to keep his spot in the Reading FC team, after being given his chance by Royals boss Brian McDermott.

The right-back has often played second-fiddle to former first choice wing back Andy Griffin but with Griffin picking up an injury a few weeks ago, it has given the defender an opportunity to cement his first team spot.

The 22-year old told the Reading Post: “Everything is going well and I can’t really complain. I’m getting forward in games and we haven’t lost yet since I`ve been playing.’

“We have competition all over the place and there are people that can play in different positions, but I think it is my time now to cement my place in the team and keep doing well.”

The squad will now move to this Saturday’s game against Burnley, who are one place above the Royals.
