Steve Coppell has brushed aside reports that Reading could make a move, and a £5million move at that for Coventry’s Michael Mifsud.

Recent newspaper reports claimed that Coppell could make a big money offer for the Maltese striker but Coppell has rubbished this insisting he will not be looking to sign Mifsud, especially not for £5million, although he did confirm sending Wally Downes to the recent Maltese game with Greece in Greece, “We were looking at somebody – but it wasn’t Michael Mifsud. We were aware of him in the summer when he was a free agent, so why would I pay £5m for him now?” Coppell told Sky Sports.

“But we never comment on potential transfer targets.”

The claims are that this man could be Bolton’s Greek international Stelios Giannakopoulos.
