Steve Coppell has reiterated that if anyone tries to sign one of his players after Sunday, they will have to pay an inflated price.

The Royals boss had previously warned potential suitors that the prices will go up after the season has started.

Coppell has now re-affirmed that should anyone come in for his star men, they will have to pay over the odds.

Nicky Shorey is expected to leave Reading this week, but should any other clubs want to do business with the Royals after this weekend, they will be expected to pay big.

Coppell said: ‘After this deadline there has to be a premium. Our squad has been available all summer.

‘After this we can`t stop anyone as such, but our players will cost more if anyone comes in.

‘As a relegated club you have to accept there will always be interest in your players.

‘We`ve had silly offers, more serious offers and then in the case of Kitson and probably Shorey we`ve had legitimate offers. Next will be the panic offers, and they will cost more.’
