Coppell Hits out at SSS Questions

SSS, second season syndrome, something that is constantly being labelled with Reading this season and something that Steve Coppell is very angry with.

Reading may have only won two of eight Premier League matches this season after a stunning first season last term when Europe was just missed out on, but we are still playing fairly well on the whole so things will change.

“I’ve had 17 million questions about second-season syndrome. I’m fed up with the f****** thing. Shove it up where ever,” Steve Coppell told reporters when questioned once again about second season syndrome as he showed the angry side of his personality when after the 7-4 defeat to Portsmouth.

“It’s just f****** hard whether it’s the first season, second season or third season.”

Managers are judged on results, something that Coppell also told these reporters, “Ferraris win races and the others compete. If you spend a lot of money you’re going to win.

“A lot of good things have come out of the game, but nobody can take a lot of credit when you lose seven goals.

“Your life is determined by results. If you win, it’s a lively world. If you lose, it’s your fault. Everyone is judged on results.

“If we lose, I’ll be judged poorly, disparagingly and if I don’t do something about it, things will happen.

“It’s not a question of feeling under threat, but a manager is judged on results. If you don’t get results, you’re not a manager for long.”

All this talk of second season syndrome is getting on my nerves, maybe not quite as much as Coppell’s, but not far from it.
