Kalifa Cisse has committed his future to the Royals after signing a contract extension through to 2011.

Cisse has been an important part of Reading’s promotion campaign this season and as a reward, has earned himself a new contract.

The Mali international has made 50 appearances for the Royals since joining the club in 2007. A centre back by trade, Cisse has seen his career at Reading turn him into a midfielder.

Reading’s director of football Nick Hammond believes the Malian fully deserves an extension. Speaking on the RFC website Hammond said,

‘He made a big transition when moving here from Portugal in 2007, but Kalifa is now firmly settled here and he thoroughly deserves his new deal,’

‘Off the pitch he is a fantastic personality to have around and on it he has been exceptional to become an integral member of the team.’

In other news, Reading fans are bracing themselves for the departure of Stephen Hunt to Wigan. It is reported that the Irish international is in talks with the club but maybe holding out for an offer from Everton.
