Former Royals manager Steve Coppell, now in charge at Ashton Gate, was the man who brought Cisse to the Madejski Stadium in the summer of 2007 for £650,000 and the two are now on the verge of being reunited.
City have bid £500,000 for the Mali international, who will now travel to Bristol to negotiate personnal terms and complete a medical.
The Robins have seen the best of Cisse with a wonder goal in a 4-1 win 2 season’s ago, and another commanding performance at Ashton Gate last season.
However these performances have been few and far between, and he has failed to nail down a place in the Royals starting 11 on a regular basis.
Whilst Brian McDermott is unlikely to see too much of the money generated, it is a good move for the club and free’s up some much needed space on the wage bill.
