Church was forced to start from the bench as manager John Toshack chose Millwall striker Steve Morison to start upfront, and by the time the Royals striker was thrown on, the Welsh were 1-0 down.

However he hit the bar with a header not long after coming on, and the had a goal disallowed for offside. On closer inspection it was the right decision and he couldn’t find a breakthrough in the rest of the game.

For the under 21’s though, Hal Robson Kanu was in fine form on Saturday scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Hungary. He also won and took a late penalty, but saw his effort saved.

In other international news, Zurab Kizhanishvili played the full 90 minutes as Georgia drew 1-1 with Greece, whilst Brynjar Gunnarsson was not involved for Iceland as they lost 2-1 to Norway after an injury picked up in the Leicester game. Gylfi Sigurdsson started and on his second cap for his country though.
