Ahead of the game with Crystal Palace on Saturday, Shane Long told the world how he always has chicken nuggets before a game! After his fine display against the Eagles, no one will begrudge him them, as long as he puts in displays like that more often.

Long’s Girlfriend cooked them for him on Friday evening and he spoke about that, amoungst other things after the game. He told the Official Site, ‘It’s one of the only superstitions I have, I started doing it just before the Liverpool game last season and I’ve felt good every game since.’

Long was always confident that he would find the back of the net soon, after failing to score in the first four games of the season.

‘It’s felt like I have been playing well for the last couple of games, the ball wasn’t finding the back of the net for me – but I knew it was coming.’

With Gylfi Sigurdsson gone, there has been much talk about what formation we should play, but Long is happy we stuck with him as the loan striker.

‘I like playing that lone striker role, with the man in behind I try and lay it off behind him and sometimes the defenders don’t know who to pick up.’

Long will look to continue his run of decent performances with another goal at Millwall on Tuesday night.
