Barnsley are considering making a loan move for Reading striker Simon Church, The Star understands.

Keith Hill’s side are on the look out for a new striker, with the Welsh international reportedly quite high on the Tykes wanted list. However, Royals boss Brian McDermott has publicly stated that he wants Church to sign a new deal before he makes any sort of move away from the club, as he will be able to talk to clubs in January.

The 23-year old is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League for Reading this season and his only outing on the pitch this campaign has come in the Capital One Cup against Arsenal on Tuesday. Since breaking into the first team in 2009, the academy graduate has played over 100 games for Reading, scoring 21 goals in the process.
