The missing man Daniel Carrico could be included in today’s matchday squad, Nigel Adkins has revealed.

The 24-year old signed from Sporting Lisbon in January for around £600,000, but has only made one appearance in a Royals shirt so far. It is known that Carrico has struggled with a knee injury since moving from Portugal, but Adkins has said that the midfielder could be involved against Liverpool today.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website ahead of today’s game, Adkins said: ‘Daniel has trained very well this week, he’s a player who hadn’t figured previously but has only been here for a short period of time. You’ve got to get used to the level, the tempo and the speed. Your family has to settle in, you have to get used to everything.’

Considering the lad signed from a renowned-European side, people, including me, expected him to hit the ground running. However, it was apparent against West Brom that he struggled to get a grip on the game and maybe was too early for him. I hope he stays at the club over the summer and can help our promotion push next season.
