New Reading signing Daniel Carrico has said he is ready to play in tomorrow’s encounter with West Brom in the Premier League.

The 24-year old is set to make his Premier League debut for the Royals in our game with the Baggies at the Madejski Stadium, with Mikele Leigertwood still recovering from a knock. Carrico played 75 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday afternoon in central midfield, where he is expected to line-up on Saturday.

Speaking to the Reading Post, Carrico said: “I hope I can pull on the Reading shirt in the next game. It will be a dream come true. I`ll be training hard to prepare for the game and I hope I can play. I am proud to be the first player from Portugal to play for Reading – so I will have to show the Portuguese quality.’

‘The manager has told me what he expects of me on the pitch. I will work really hard in training and show my qualities and what I can do. I`m very happy and glad to be here, and I hope I can help my teammates to go up the table. I like the atmosphere inside the group and in the dressing room. They are really good guys.’

I for one am really looking forward to seeing Carrico play and see how well he adapts to the Premier League in defensive midfield. West Brom are likely to give us a good, physical battle, so I hope he is prepared for that. Hopefully, a midfield trio of Jem, Guthrie and Carrico will accommodate each other well, we will see!
