The Royals complete the festive period with a home game against managerless Burnley at the Madejski Stadium.

The visitors beat Sheffield United on New Years Day and look to have responded well to the sacking of former manager Brian Laws. However they have failed to win two games in a row all season.

They will be looking to gain revenge for a 4-0 hammering we dished out to them at Turf Moor earlier in the season.

A full match preview is here…

Vital Quotes:

Brian McDermott –

‘The Fixture list is ridiculous, I have never seen anything like it but we have to get on with it. To be honest we want to get out there and play straight away after the Swansea result.’

Reading Team News:

Jobi McAnuff (Ill) and Mikele Leigertwood (Hamstring) are doubtful after both missed the defeat at Swansea. Jem Karacan and Noel Hunt were rested for that game but should return for Jay Tabb and Simon Church.

The likes of Zurab Kizhanishvili and Chris Armstrong will be hoping they can freshen things up in defence.

Player to watch: Hal Robson Kanu

Got a chance on Saturday against Swansea but was dreadful and hauled off early in the second half. He must improve when he gets the opportunity and needs to work a lot harder.

Burnley Team News:

Caretaker boss Stuart Gray could name an unchanged line-up for his second match in charge.

Steven Thompson scored on Saturday from the bench though and will be hoping to get a starting place.

Player to watch: Andre Bikey

The defenders first return to the Madejski Stadium and he will be looking to get one over his old side. Is sure to get a good reception from the home supporters though.

Last Meeting

Saturday October 23rd, Burnley 0-4 Reading

Match Prediction:

I can’t see us losing this one, I’m feeling very positive. I can see an exciting game with plenty of goals and a 4-2 win for the Royals.

Next Fixture:

Saturday 8th January 2011, West Brom (H) FA Cup
