Royals went out of the FA Cup tonight at St Andrews after going down to Birmingham City.

Despite hitting the woodwork twice, Reading lost to a Blues side who produced goals from Mickael Forssell and Julian Gray, either side of an equaliser from Steve Hunt.

Birmingham?s reward will be a trip to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke in the next round and their manager Steve Bruce was delighted to get the game won.

He said: ‘I’m delighted for the young lads, it was a horrible night and the ball was swerving all over the place in atrocious conditions.

‘It takes a little bit of time to settle, a few of them haven’t played at this level.

‘I thought the reaction was terrific after Reading equalised.’

“”Adding: ‘But I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Reading and got on well with the fans, so I hope that is shown on Sunday. I hope to get a nice reception, I gave my all for Reading and I hope there is a mutual appreciation from the supporters – there certainly is from my side.’ “”
