Christmas time can mean only one thing – Boxing Day football!! The Royals welcome Bristol City to the Madejski Stadium and will be looking for revenge for a 1-0 defeat back in October at Ashton Gate.
A full match preview is here…
Royals loanee Mikele Leigertwood –
‘I actually scored against Bristol City last Boxing Day for QPR, so I`m hoping that is a good omen. It would be nice to score and what better time to do it than at Christmas?!’
Alex Pearce on rewarding his boot boy! –
‘All the lads sort their boot boys out as they`re much appreciated. I`ve got Angus MacDonald doing mine and he does a great job for me.’
The Royals have an almost fully fit squad to choose from with only fringe player Scott Davies out injured. Brynjar Gunnarsson has returned to training, as has Ivar Ingimarsson, and Brian McDermott has plenty of options to choose from.
However he could opt to keep the same squad that beat Derby with Shane Long expected to beat a bout of flu to take his place upfront.
The defender has fought his way back into the team and is looking composed at centre back alongside Matt Mills. Will be looking to continue that against Bristol City.
The visitors will be without Liam Fontaine who is struggling with an ankle injury whilst long serving defender Louis Carey is ill so may miss the game.
Striker was signed from Bournemouth in the summer and struggled initially to find a place in the team. However he is now leading the line for Keith Millen’s side and has found the net in recent weeks.
Tuesday 19th October, Bristol City 1-0 Reading.
I’m going for a home win, we played well at Derby and I expect us to follow that up here. Reading 2-0 Bristol City
Tuesday 28th December, Hull (A)
