Reading manager Brian McDermott has said bookies making him favourite for the sack is probably justified!

The former Slough Town boss is favourite with the majority of the bookmakers to be the next Premier League manager sacked, following the Royals’ fifth successive loss and dismal performance against Sunderland. Bet Victor are even taking odds on our next manager, with Dick Advocat and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer the early favourites.

Speaking to Sky Sports, McDermott said: ‘People talk about my job and I understand that. I don’t go home at night feeling great about myself because we’re not winning games. I’m favourite to go first, we all know that. That’s how it works in football and I completely understand because it’s a results-driven business.’

‘Generally over the last three years we’ve won a lot of games and our record is good, but all I do is focus on what I can do. We’re not winning but we’re trying to win. The chairman has been very supportive, as has Anton. Anton was very supportive after the Sunderland game, he knows what the situation is. He’s been terrific for this club.’

With every interview Brian has given in the last few weeks, there has been some reference to our success last season and quite frankly, people are getting bored of it. Brian is being very naive, the football we played last season was never going to be good enough for the Premiership and we knew that before a ball for kicked this season.
