Not a problem as Reading were afterall prepared to pay £9m for Scott Hogan so what’s another £6m on top!

I of course jest as Reading weren’t going to pay such an amount – despite the speculation we saw towards the end of last year – so definitely aren’t going to pay as much as £15m for the Irishman.

Hogan’s goalscoring exploits at Brentford have seen Reading linked with a January bid along with Championship rivals Norwich, Bristol City and Newcastle as well as Premier League side West Brom.

Newcastle’s interest has seen it reported by Chronicle Live they would have to pay the said £15m to Brentford if they wanted to prise him away from Griffin Park – an asking price the title chasing side wouldn’t be willing to match.

There’s no doubting the 24 year old would be a good addition for any club – not that Brentford would want to lose him – but I couldn’t imagine too many clubs being willing – let alone able – to part with such a figure for Hogan, could you?
