Should Reading beat Man Utd they will face the winner of West Brom and Middlesbrough in an away tie.

However the news that Man Utd will not have to face Arsenal or Chelsea in a quarter final tie may alert Sir Alex to the need to win in his attempt to achieve another treble winning season with United.

Reading will face Man Utd on Tuesday the 27th February in a home game televised from the Madejski Stadium. The Tuesday tie will suit the United boss who has the worry of a league match with Liverpool at the weekend.

The other FA Cup ties are:

Plymouth VS Watford

Chelsea VS Spurs

Blackburn or Arsenal VS Man City

Meanwhile John Madejski adopted a typical Reading view to the news of Boro or the Baggies in the next round:

‘We’ve just got the small business of dispensing with Manchester United before getting excited about Middlesbrough or West Brom but whatever is in front of us we will take on,

‘We would be up for it with either of those teams [in the quarter-final] but first we’ve got the Herculean task of dealing with Manchester United.”

And looking forward to taking on the Red Devils for the forth time this season the Reading chairman said:
“I’m delighted they [United] are coming back to Reading. That is what the FA Cup is all about. It’s a second bite of the cherry and it’s great. We’re all exceedingly excited and looking forward to the game.”

United boss, Sir Alex also came out backing cup replays despite Arsene Wenger`s assistance that the big four of England could do without the hindrance:

“You cannot just take replays away. For some clubs it is part of their whole existence.
‘Reading have come here today and got a draw that takes us back to their place. That is great for them.’
