Boothroyd Happy With A Point

Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd was full of praise for his side after he watched them defend well to earn a point at Reading.

Watford’s hard earned point and Sheffield United slipping up yet again means that there is now only four points that separate the Hornets from second place.

Boothroyd kept top scorer Marlon King on the bench until the second half so that his side could play defensively, and that’s something that the Watford boss does not
regret.

‘Marlon had a slight hamstring injury and wasn’t feeling too well,’ Boothroyd said.

‘It was a hard decision, but that is what I’m paid for.

‘We have so many important games coming up, that I did not want to take the chance of playing Marlon and risk him picking up a serious injury.

‘We were excellent at the back. We were hanging on in the first half, but in the second there were a couple of times when we could have nicked a goal.’

He would be happy wouldn’t he? Its not as if they attacked to earn points, they came for a 0-0 draw and fluked one. We should have won by two or three goals

If you can’t score goals you can’t wi matches

Watford were definitely the more negative team. Readings goal difference of +56 shows that they can definitely score goals. Proper football will always prevail – Chelsea be warned.
