Bobby Conveys Desire to Stay

Royals winger Bobby Convey has expressed his desire to stay at Reading as he enters the last year of his contract.

After being a key part of the Royals side that won promotion two years ago, Convey has struggled with knee problems and was restricted to just 29 appearances during Reading`s stint in the top flight.

Convey has just 12 months left on his current contract, but the 25-year-old American International insists he wants to stay with the Royals and hopes he can put his injuries behind him.

Convey said, ‘Looking back I never really got a chance to play because I had surgery and then last season it was stop-start.

‘It was a difficult situation for me, but I am now staying positive and looking forward to pre-season.

‘I haven`t lost my confidence. I feel good and I am just raring to get going.

‘I have done fitness work back in the States and I feel good. The knee is good. I went home before the end of last season to just rest. It was good to go back and hang out with my family.

‘I have done all my rehab and now I just want to get a good pre-season under my belt.

‘It is the last year of my contract and I know I have to prove myself and show what I can do.

‘It`s hard to enjoy soccer when you are injured, but I just can`t wait to get going.

‘I do not want to move at all. I am happy at Reading and would like to stay here after this season.

‘I plan on being here for a few more years, but I know it is up to me to prove myself to the manager, the fans and myself.`

Convey`s pledge of allegiance will be good news for the Royals fans as the winger could once again play a pivotal part in Reading`s promotion challenge.
