The Royals 4 game winning streak came to an end at Blackpool on Saturday when they went down 2-0, thanks to goals from DJ Campbell and Charlie Adam. The pith at Bloomfield Road was in awful condition, but it was the same for both sides and the there can be no arguments about the result.

After the fine win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, Brian McDermott opted to keep the same 11 and the only change in the squad was Jay Tabb replacing Kalifa Cisse on the bench.

The whole game was largely forgettable affair in truth and very low on quality. David Vaughan forced Adam Federici into a save after 15 minutes, but Royals fans will remember the opening period for a high tackle from Keith Southern on Brynjar Gunnarsson. It looked a clear red card but the referee only gave a yellow and Gunnarsson hobbled off shortly after.

The opening goal arrived shortly before the break when Adam played a wonderful ball to Campbell and the former Leicester striker finished well.

The second period was just as mundane and Blackpool had the majority of the clear cut chances, and even they were few and far between. Simon Church also hobbled off after picking up a knock, whilst our best chance of the game fell to Brian Howard but he headed wide.

Former Rangers midfielder Adam made the game safe when he drilled a low effort into the bottom corner of the net, giving Federici no chance. Southern hit the post before the end, whilst sub Grzegorz Rasiak shot over on the turn late on but there was to be no consolation and this result will bring everyone back down to earth, after a recent mini revival.
