Good news for Andre Bikey enthusiasts! The Cameroonian defender has finally secured a permanent deal with Reading FC!

The 22-year-old, a loan signing with the Royals from Lokomotiv Moscow, has done enough in the eyes of the backroom staff to land himself a full time Reading contract.

Despite the deal being outside the transfer window, the transaction was allowed to take place because it simply involved promoting Bikey`s current contract to a permanent one.

The fee is thought have been settled with Lokomotiv Moscow for somewhere in the region of £1million while Bikey will now be tied to the Royals on a three year contract ending in the summer of 2010.

Although there is still room for improvement, Bikey has constantly impressed during his time with the Royals making 20appearances and scoring a solitary goal.

Royals director of football Nicky Hammond said on the club’s official website: ‘Andre has done every well with us since joining on loan.

‘He has proved he can play at Premiership level and this move gives him the opportunity to progress.

‘This is a very good signing for Reading football club and a great deal for us in the current market.’

Chairman John Madejski added: ‘I’m very pleased that Andre has joined us permanently.

‘He has settled into Reading very well and shown that he is a player with great potential.

‘He is also a good character who has fitted into our squad and will be an important player in the next few years.’
