Bid accepted for Sigurdsson

We reported this rumour here yesterday and Royals fans worst fears have come true this morning with the news we have accepted a bid from German side Hoffenheim for our star player.

The bid is believed to be in the region of £5million, and Sigurdsson will be a direct replacement for Carlos Eduardo, who the German’s have just sold to Rubin Kazan.

There is nothing on the official site yet, but they do not normally report these things until they have been completed so we wouldn’t expect to hear anything yet anyway.

This will come as a major blow to all Royals fans, as the Icelandic midfielder is one of the only joys of watching this club at the moment. That was summed up with his outstanding goal at the weekend against Leicester, a goal that will probably be his last in a blue and white shirt.

We will wait and see how much of that cash will be reinvested in the team, but my guess is less that 25%. Either way McDermott is sure to change his formation to a 4-4-2, as there could be no player we could attract to play ‘in the hole’ that would be anywhere near the standard of Sigurdsson.

Knew this would happen as soon as McDermott talked on Friday about it might not be possible to keep hold of everyone. Sad day for the club, but I am sure Madejski is delighted to rbring in some more cash to fill the black hole. Sack the board
