After Sunday’s defeat to Aston Villa, the Royals must quickly forget the FA cup dream and focus on the relegation battle in the Championship. Defender Ryan Bertrand has insisted that is exactly what will happen,

He told the Reading Post, ‘We’re annoyed about the Villa result, but it’s important we get over it as quickly as we can. Derby is an important game and it’s also important we win against the teams that are in and around us, it’s a massive game again.’

The on loan Chelsea left back is also pleased with the recent up turn in fortunes at the Madejski Stadium and is looking forward to facing the Rams on home soil.

‘Playing at home, we’ve showed really good form of late, even though we lost against Villa it was still a decent performance that we put in for the first 45 minutes in particular.’

Despite being the youngest of our current back four, Bertrand has made more appearances than any other outfield player this season. He has gained some fantastic experience of first team football and will be in the running for the clubs player of the season in a few months time.

Lets hope he can forget his second half display at Villa, because he has been excellent apart that all season.

One of our best players, apart from a few dodgy performances – whats our chances of keeping him?!
