Chris Baird still feels that Reading can still improve, despite a thumping victory over Doncaster.

The Northern Island international started his fifth consecutive game for the Royals, in a win which takes us into the play-off spots. Despite these three points gained with four goals to show, Baird still feels that we can still improve in areas across the pitch.

Speaking to the Reading Post, the summer signing said: ‘We’re still not in fifth gear. We can do a lot better in some areas. We’re getting more confident all the time but we’re nowhere near the capabilities of what we can achieve.’

‘It was a good victory for us which got us into the play-off positions. We played some good stuff and could have scored more. Everyone is getting on the scoresheet which is good, it’s not just one person. Everyone is getting in on the act.’

I presume what Baird is hinting at is a few defensive lapses, which have occurred over the past three games. We will probably get away with lacklustre defending against the likes of Barnsley and Doncaster, but not the likes of QPR, whom we play in three weeks time.
