We are now two months into the season, meaning it’s time to review our players’ start to the season.

Firstly it’s our Goalkeepers who have undergone some criticism.

Jonathon Bond- 6-

Bond was signed by Clarke as our number one and he’s started every league game so far. If you are judging him on goals conceded, you’d think I am being very harsh, but Bond has been helped massively by our defence. Jonathan Bond made one horrible mistake to cost Reading two points at Sheffield Wednesday and was also harshly blamed for not keeping out Derby’s winner at the Madejski. The young keeper also struggles with balls into the box and has dropped a few of corners but managed to get away with it. Although we are nine games into this season, it’s tough to judge Bond so far as we have defended so well.

Ali Al-Habsi- 3-

Reading’s second team keeper has played in both of the league cup games and has really struggled, playing a part in all three goals conceded. During the friendlies, Al-Habsi scared the Reading fans and showed us that he has a mistake in him. Unfortunately for Reading, he has brought this into the season, resulting in an early exit of the League Cup. Reading were in control against Everton before two school boy errors from Al-Habsi cost them. Terrible start to his Reading career and I’ll be surprised if he plays again.
