Andersen set for Bristol Rovers return?

Image for Andersen set for Bristol Rovers return?

Young keeper Mikkel Andersen could be about to return to Bristol Rovers, following a succesful loan spell at the Memorial Stadium last season. He picked up the clubs young player of the year award after a brilliant season, and has since gone on to win the ‘golden glove’ award at the Toulon Under 20 tournament for Denmark this summer.

With Brian McDermott giving all his keepers a fair crack this pre season, and the fact Andersen is desperate to play first team football at the Mad Stad, Rovers moved to sign Luke Daniels from West Brom. However the stopper picked up an injury in pre season and has returned to his parent club after just one appearance for the West Country side.

The time could now be right for Andersen to return with him unlikely to even make the bench against Scunthorpe on Saturday, with Adam Federici clearly the clubs number 1. Ben Hamer is sure to be the understudy once more and you could even argue that England under 21 keeper Alex McCarthy is ahead of Andersen in the pecking order.

He is clearly a great keeper but his first team chances here will be limited and a move away could be good for the players future.

Time is right for a move away from the club for the youngster. Clearly a great keeper but we are blessed in that position and you can’t keep 4 keepers happy!
