Danish keeper Andersen spent last season on loan at Bristol Rovers and won the clubs young player of the year award. With his Reading contract expiring at the end of this coming season though, there were doubts over his future at the club but he has now commited to the Royals for the next three years.

After signing the deal he was then sent out on loan to Bristol Rovers again, where he will spend, at least, the next month. The deal could be extended and that will all depend on what happens between now and the close of the transfer window.

It now remains unclear as to who will be on the bench on Saturday, with Ben Hamer the favourite although Alex McCarthy was involved against Wolves last Tuesday. Whoever doesn’t make it could also be loaned out, with Simon Locke proving in a couple of pre season games that he could be an able third choice if needed.

If only we could swap one of these highly rated keepers for a highly rated centre back!
