And So The Season Comes To An End

|

A 0-0 draw at home to Birmingham City saw the Sky Bet Championship season come to a close for Reading FC.

Both teams had nothing to play for with survival in the second tier already guaranteed for each side, and the game panned out how you may expect in a pretty lifeless game.

A point a piece probably fair all things considered, Reading dominated possession but Birmingham had slightly more chances on goal with very little to speak of in terms of clear cut chances.

Another game without defeat at home this calendar year continued the Royals’ record of losing just once at home since New Year’s Day, which was the integral part of Reading’s survival.

Despite Birmingham being docked nine points earlier in the season, Garry Monk’s side have put together some very good form of their own this season in stages. Today’s draw meant that the Blues ended the season seven games unbeaten.

Both teams will be glad to see the end of this season. For Reading, it’s going to be a difficult summer. Expect a lot of player movement in the off season, however most of this will be players going out.

Lastly, I want to say thank you Jose Gomes. Without him, the Royals faithful may not have been in such a good mood come 2:30 this afternoon.
