The Reading squad have taken off to the Algarve for a five day training camp, although Dave Kitson misses the trip.

The Royals have taken the step to work on their training ahead of the FA Cup game with Premiership Birmingham City at the weekend.

The team are seven points clear of second placed Sheffield United in the table but manager Steve Coppell was quick to point out that the trip was in no way a reward for their achievements so far.

The Boss told the club’s official website: ‘We’re going off to train. Our training ground can get muddy so we thought this would be an appropriate time to go over there.

‘But we’ll be working, our mentality is to push on, it’s not a reward.’

One player who won?t be there is striker Dave Kitson who picked up a hamstring injury on Saturday, he is now doubtful for the game with the Blues.

It’s almost as if we’ve forgotten what it’s like to be beaten – confidence is such that we feel invincible at the moment.

‘Every time we attack we look like we can score. We just need to keep doing what we’re doing and take it into the West Brom game.’
