A Royal Shambles

Royals centre-back Ibrahima Sonko and record signing/flop Emerse Fae have been suspended by the club for allegedly refusing to play for the reserves.

The pair have been fined two weeks wages and suspended indefinitely for their selfishness and stupidity.

Both were unlikely to feature in the Royals final games of the season, as Sonko is a complete liability and Fae has failed to make any impact since becoming the Royals record-signing in the summer, mainly because as he openly admits, he ‘doesn’t know how to track back’.

With both players out of favour, one would assume that a reserve fixture would be the perfect opportunity for the players to prove themselves, sadly this isn’t the case.

Allegedly Sonko and Fae asked not to play for the reserves in fear of picking up an injury that would rule them out of any internationals over the summer, funny that considering Sonko has never played a game for Senegal and Fae is no more than a fringe player for the Ivory Coast.

Royals boss Steve Coppell has done the right thing by suspending the pair and he said, ‘I want people here who are committed to the club not themselves. I don’t care about the long-term as it’s all about what happens now.

‘We have two massive games and that is all we’re concentrating on. I will re-assess the situation in the summer.’

It appears that the African queens have played their final game for the Royals and I think every Reading fan would agree with me when I say good riddance.
