£5m is Not Enough for Shorey

It is believed that West Ham had an official £5million bid for Reading’s England international left back Nicky Shorey rejected, but they will be back.

Monday is the day that is believed to be the day the bid was rejected, but unperturbed West Ham will be back with an improved bid before the week is out.

More talks are believed to be taking place this week as Alan Curbishley looks to tie up a deal for Shorey by the end of the week, which could see him make his debut against Reading at the Madejski Stadium for West Ham on Saturday.

Steve Coppell is very keen to hold onto Shorey, but a £6million bid for the 26 year old might be too good to refuse, as the fullback is currently refusing to sign a new contract, however he does have two years left for it to run.

I think that £6million will be too good to refuse, so if West Ham come back in I think he will go. It would be good to keep him, as after all he still has two years to go, but the thought of another Steve Sidwell might be playing on the clubs minds. Moving to West Ham will not achieve that much for him though.

Would be a bad career move for him, Redaing are more likely to go placves than that embarrassement from London.

  • Madejski Royal says:

I think you are right on both counts, hopefully he will stay but you never know.
